Drums of Fuel Are a Lifeline for
remote regions in Papua New Guinea

In Papua New Guinea, fuel can be the difference between life and death. Every emergency flight depends on drums of fuel to lift a plane off the water and carry a patient from a remote village to lifesaving care. When rivers are flooded, roads are impassable, and help is days away by canoe, fuel is what turns urgency into action.

Every dollar you give to Fuel for Life supports Samaritan Aviation’s flight program—fueling, maintaining, insuring, and sustaining the aircraft that make lifesaving flights possible.

A single drum of fuel costs $650 on average and allows us to fly approximately 5 lifesaving flights – averaging just $130 per flight – for mothers in labor, children fighting infection, and families with nowhere else to turn. When you give toward fuel, rescue takes flight, and hope lands where the love of Christ is needed most.

When Delma Genji, a 36-year-old mother from the remote village of Timboli, experienced a ruptured membrane late in her pregnancy, there was no time to waste. Complications like this can quickly become life-threatening for both mother and baby—especially in places where reaching a hospital by foot or canoe can take days.

Because Samaritan Aviation had fuel in the tanks and a plane ready to fly, Delma was transported quickly to the hospital. She was taken straight to the labor ward, where she safely delivered a baby boy. Today, Delma has been discharged and is recovering well, while her newborn continues to receive care in the nursery.

This is the kind of moment Fuel for Life makes possible.

When people give to Fuel for Life, they’re keeping seaplanes ready to launch at a moment’s notice, so mothers like Delma can reach skilled medical care in time.

Because of Fuel for Life, help wasn’t days away. It was already on the runway and ready to fly when Delma needed it most.

Many people in the remote villages of Papua New Guinea are days away from the only hospital and have no access or hope when they have emergencies such as pregnancy complications, snake bites, and malaria. With your donation to Fuel for Life, you are fueling the planes that are literally life for the villages we serve.

eternal impact

Every drum of fuel keeps hope in the air

In remote Papua New Guinea, where hospitals are inaccessible and medical emergencies are days away by canoe, Samaritan Aviation provides a vital lifeline. Using Cessna 206 seaplanes, they conduct free emergency flights by landing directly on the isolated river systems of the East Sepik and Southern Gulf provinces. This critical service ensures that mothers, children, and the injured receive life-saving care when every minute counts.
